Enabling networked knowledge - DERI Event at ESWC 2008

4th of June - 18:30, Gran Pelinor

The Semantic Web initiative has evolved in recent years from a simple concept into a strong and united community. DERI has grown in parallel with the Semantic Web and has developed into a premier research institute with high impact and visibility. While learning from the community, DERI has also made its own contributions to efforts such as semantically-interlinked online communities, the social semantic desktop, semantic publishing, semantic digital libraries, semantic Web search engines or semantic Web services.

Having laid the necessary foundations, DERI is now equipped to evolve to the next level: Enabling Networked Knowledge. Inspired by early ideas from visionaries like Vannevar Bush, Doug Engelbart and Tim Berners-Lee, DERI will focus on developing collaborative access to networked knowledge to assist humans, organisations and systems with their individual as well as collective problem solving. This event presents the research and results, goals and targets of the Digital Enterprise Research Institute for the next five years.

Agenda:

  • Introduction to DERI
  • Vannevar, we are nearly there! Prof. Stefan Decker
  • Get real! Go semantics! Prof. Manfred Hauswirth
  • Demo and Poster session

Finger Food and Drinks are served during the Demo and Poster session!
