
DERI Outreach is helping Galway city and county primary schools set up their very own easy-to-use websites.
The type of website used (‘weblog’) allows teachers and their pupils to directly and regularly update the online information in text, pictorial or audio format.
The days of expensive website with outdated information can now be a thing of the past
Follow the lead of schools such as Letterfrack National School, Scoil San Phrionsias (Galway city), St. Oliver Plunkett’s Primary School (Athenry) and St. Patrick’s Primary School (Galway city).
DERI has provided a series of very popular Children’s Internet Awareness Courses aimed at introducing pupils and teachers to the educational benefits of the world wide web. Beneficiaries have inlcuded Briar Hill National School (Galway City), Scoil Chiarain Naofa (Doorus), Educate Together(Newcastle) and Scoil Bailemanach (Craughwell).


Schools involved in DERI’s post primary programme include St. Joseph’s College (‘BISH’), Galway Community College, Presentation College Galway city, Mercy College, Galway city

As part of its Jubilee celebratory activities, Scoil Bhríde (Shantalla), in association with DERI and the NUI Galway ‘Access’ programme, is digitising and placing on the World Wide Web a selection of photographs detailing the life of the school since its establishment in 1955.
